Tom Turiano and Valerie Seaberg

A chance meeting of an innovative artist (Valerie Seaberg) and a contemplative mountaineer (Thomas Turiano) has yielded a technical and intelligent, as well as fun and soulful sound rooted in jazz, blues, pop, and progressive rock. Tom and Val have been developing a repertoire of complex music since winter of 2005 with regular public performances at various “open mic” venues in the Jackson Hole region. They debuted as professional musicians in spring of 2007 with gigs at weddings, private parties, special events, and dining establishments. They have shared the stage with Tift Merritt, Phil Round and Beth McIntosh, Anne and Pete Sibley, Aaron Davis and Cedar Rose, Margot Valiente, the Jason Fritts Jazz Ensemble, and many others.

In addition to covering many songs with intricate guitar and vocals by the renowned duo Tuck and Patti, Tom and Val have developed their own versions of both the classics and the obscure. Tom's percussive bass-driven finger-style chord melodies warmly resonate with Val's compelling and funky alto tones in a wide array of renderings from Ray Charles, Eva Cassidy, Ricky Lee Jones, Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt, Rory Block, Van Morrison, Joan Armatrading, Over the Rhine, Maria Muldaur, Patti Griffin, Marvin Gaye, Steely Dan, Me'Shell Ndegéocello, Lyle Lovett, and others.

About Valerie: Valerie Seaberg, MA is a professional artist, singer, and art educator. She holds a master’s degree in Art Therapy and combines a lifetime of art making with fun and informative teaching in the art and practice of creativity. Her workshops integrate experiential, theoretical, and body-oriented approaches to assist people in expressing their creative potential. She has designed programs on art and creativity for a variety of organizations including The Art Association, Partners, Journeys School, Teton Science Schools, The Center for Wonder, The University of California, The Institute for Transpersonal Psychology, Outward Bound, The National Training Laboratories, Microsoft, and Partners of the Americas. About Thomas: Thomas Turiano has played guitar since age 14, with progressive rock and New Age influences such as Steve Howe, William Ackerman, Michael Hedges, and Tuck Andress. Tom plays a considerable repertoire of original and cover instrumental guitar songs.
